Coreldraw suite3/31/2023 People who think they can make a postcard or any print that requires vector and raster content in state of the art quality only in an image editor has their head up their butt.ĭo raster in a Photo-PAINT, place it in Draw in a page sized as the output size add vectors, fonts, other imported images and export to native color press PDF settings. In the hands of a skilled user there is NO PROGRAM available that can produce the above process in state of the art quality faster, higher quality for a lower cost than the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite. You'll recognize that container format as EPS, PDF and print driver. What they have provided is a platform that when utilized properly makes it extremely user friendly to do so.Īs an example if you want a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card, any technician worth their salt knows that images get created in an image creation application, they are placed in an application that can create vectors and fonts in a manner that images stay as images and vectors and fonts stay in their native format in a container export format. I have technical reasons that would fill a book on that which are solid and serious impediments to that concept.Ĭorel understands that there are reasons for vectors and reasons for raster. The problem is users see Draw and Photo-PAINT and not the entire picture.Ĭorel has never had and I'd bet heavily that they have zero intention in the future of combining Draw and Photo-PAINT into one application. Negating any need for page features in Photo-PAINT. The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite ( including Photo-PAINT) for page layout, raster implementation, vector, text is infinitely superior to any raster application. To be more blunt if you think that the page capabilities of any raster application of the end result in terms of raster, vector, text, is better than the Draw/Photo-PAINT interface you need training on how to use a Graphics Suite. To be blunt about it one needs to see it as CorelDRAW/Photo-PAINT, the quasi single application. Specifically integration with high end transparency effects for vectors and rasters. The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (improved Photo-PAINT) provides all the functions required with vastly more powerful features. As such Corel bought PaintShop and developed a significant revenue stream with the users of such applications. Photo-PAINT only being bundled with CorelDRAW has the advantage of all the capabilities within Draw so developers (and I agree and counciled such) decided to maintain the status and increase the image editing capabilities as a support utility for Draw. These applications in the right hands can do high end image editing but the back bone of their user base is hobbyists. You'll see such applications used for creating scrapbooks, postcards and hobbyists activities. If I'm correct it was a very short lived experiment ans thankfully unsuccessful as future development was focused on remaining a raster utility for CorelDRAW.Īffinity, Photo-PAINT, Photoshop, GIMP and other raster editing applications were developed as stand alone applications and as such features were developed to allow them to function as stand alone applications. ![]() If memory serves for a short period Photo-PAINT was available by itself but I may be wrong. The concentration in the X5 cycle was to maintain the color management connection during the very complicated change to a industry compliant color management system. ![]() This effort moved slowly but did continue until N color transparency support was achieved in the X3, X4 cycles. ![]() I know because at this time going forward (version 5) I've been active in the communication with developers concerning development of features. Starting with version 8 some increased professional raster edits capabilities were introduced. Photo-PAINT was first conceived only as an image editing utility in support of the CorelDRAW. It also has a set of very capable postscript/PDF compliant creation tools. ![]() You create a page size, create or import content and the page dimensions are transferred to export filters and or print drivers. I understand your thoughts but CorelDRAW is a drawing/page layout program.
